At Mene.ng, user safety and financial integrity are our absolute highest priorities. Online marketplace commerce in Nigeria has historically suffered from bad actors. We deploy a multi-layered defense architecture to ensure that every buyer gets what they paid for and every merchant gets paid promptly.
256-Bit SSL Encryption
All data transmissions, passwords, and banking information are encrypted using AES-256 and SHA-256 protocols.
Government KYC
Merchants are vetted via NIN, BVN validation, and CAC corporate registration before receiving payout privileges.
Anti-Phishing Shield
Our intelligent filters flag suspicious WhatsApp links, fake bank alerts, and off-platform payment lures automatically.
1. Mandatory Identity Verification (KYC)
To maintain transparency and deter repeat scammers, sellers wishing to unlock Verified Merchant status must undergo Tier 1 or Tier 2 KYC. We verify identity documentation through direct NIMC/NIN and NIBSS/BVN database queries. Accounts found using stolen identities are permanently banned and blacklisted.
2. Two-Factor Authentication & OTPs
All sensitive actions—including account registration, password changes, bank withdrawal destination updates, and wallet payouts—require real-time 6-digit OTP verification delivered via registered email or SMS.
3. Reporting Scams & Vulnerabilities
If you encounter a suspicious listing, receive an unsolicited request to pay outside Mene Escrow, or discover a technical vulnerability, contact our Security Response Team immediately at security@mene.ng or via our 24/7 WhatsApp emergency hotline.
